Plaster Piece
The item I wanted to use was a black women's boot that I found in my little sister's toy boy. I found it interesting because it had such great lines and the dark leathery material would create a high contrast against the white mold. I wanted to either showcase the great lines of the boot or the texture. My first idea was to use the boot to represent women's strength by constructing a sphere and placing it on top of the boot. This idea stated that women can be beautiful sexy and still take care of business while holding the world up on her shoe |

The reason why I choose to do this item was because it was an item that I felt had nice curvy lines to it and the detail created a nice pattern that was repeated throughout the piece. The lines move the eye from place to place. It was not easy to make the curvy lines with such strong material. I would have liked to do the horse with the carriage but with this being my first attempted with this material I did not want to bite of more than i could chew. I really enjoy making mythical objects using different kind of material. The fact that the material is such a strong source and the object represent a soft kind of childlike experience creates a huge contrast between subject matter and the idea. If i could go back I would probably go about making the piece in a different way. I would start more with the structure then go back and do the
details. NIU Piece While walking around campus I realized there is only one extravagant entry into campus and its not noticeable that it is northern Illinois. Also it is on one side of campus where no one usually enters. While making this piece i thought it would be a great idea if people knew when they arrived on campus and would know when they walked in. The idea behind my piece was to present some type of portal or entry for students and faculty. I wanted it to be made out of the the abbreviation of northern Illinois university. Then everyone would know when they walked in that they were welcomed into the community of northern Illinois.
I wanted to use the positive and negative space of the letters of NIU. I knew making the gate out of these letters would be a creative way not only to utilize an entry point but also constructing it in an interesting way. While making the piece i wanted to make sure my craftsmanship was on point. i carefully cut out each letter making sure i soften the edges of each line and curve. I played with the negative and positive letters and found out it looked interesting when i placed positive letters in between negative letters. |

For the fourth piece we were asked to create jewelry that would
enhance an objects beauty. I choose to use the sphere program to create my
jewelry. The reason why I chose this website was because I could mold and shape
each object the way I wanted and I could also change the material.
The first piece I created is a piece that could either be worn as a ring or as a head piece. I wanted to contrast a three dimensional object. I designed the piece with a butterfly in the middle with technical designs around the edges and inside. The reason why I choose a butterfly was because I am in an organization that has a butterfly as its symbol. The intention of this piece was to be worn by the members of my organization or anybody who loves butterflies.
The second piece was more of a personal piece. I am someone who is always cold so I decided to make a hood that also came attached with a necklace. Not only would the hood keep someone warm it also served as a necklace enhancing the neck line.
The third piece is a gold tooth decorator. This object serves as a piece to enhance or modify teeth. There are three vampire looking teeth and the middle one goes around your first front teeth and the side ones go on the side of your front two teeth. The last piece is my interpenetration of the serpent and the apple. The piece is a snake like necklace with a snake head with its tongue out on each side. In the middle sits the forbidden apple.

Put A Bird on it
Art102
While watching the video I got that the assignment was to take something boring and in your own way turn it into something interesting. When I watched the video I did not want to use their interpretation of putting a bird on something to turn it into something beautiful I wanted to do my own interpretation of turning something normal into something different. I had no idea of what I wanted to make. I believe this was the project that was the hardest to think of ways to be creative because there were no binderies.
I wanted to use something I could use in my house and one thing I do need is a candle incent holder. I am obsessed with making sure my house smells good and looks pretty. I decided to make a candle incent in one. I bought I regular glass container and some glitter and sand building material. I decided that making a flower would be my own way of putting a bird on it. To add some sparkle to it I added red glitter stripes around my glass container. And the bottom there is black and red stripes to represent the stem of the flower.

Final Piece
For my last project I wanted to make an object that I would enjoy
making. To go with my Egyptian concept I decided to make a pyramid out of
plaster and mold steps around it. The reason for making the pyramid is because
it is one of the key symbols that is used to represent when Egyptian were first
around. The ancient Egyptians were very well organized and they required a good
understanding of technology, science and mathematics to enable them to build
what has become known as one of the wonders of the ancient world
Pyramids were used as a burial tomb for kings and queens. I wanted to use the pyramid as an appreciation for life. I combined two things a flower which represents life and placed it on top of the pyramid to show that out off all things living is the most important thing in life and the pyramid one the world’s oldest monumental structures constructed. To combine the two I placed sand coming from the flower and onto the pyramid by doing this it connects the two even more. Pyramids where made out of dirt and bricks and flowers grow from dirt. Overall I am happy with how the piece turned out, it was hard trying to start it but once I got rolling I became more confident in what I was doing.
